Custom cabinetry from Brown Dog Woodworks typically includes:

• Design consultation — an in-home walkthrough to measure the space and talk through style, storage needs, and budget

• Material selection — choosing wood species, stain/finish, and hardware

• Fabrication — built in our shop, not mass-produced off-site

• Finishing — We finish all our cabinetry in the shop, only minor touch ups necessary on site

• Coordination — Countertops, Plumbing, Electrical, and your daily routine. We can do that.

• Installation — fitted and secured on-site to your walls and floors​

• Clean — Like we were never even there

How much does custom cabinetry typically cost?

​

Custom built-ins generally range from $650 to $1200 per linear foot, depending on wood species, complexity, and finish. A simple bookshelf built-in costs less than a full kitchen cabinetry package with soft-close drawers and custom moldings.

Three things move the price most:

1. Wood species — paint-grade maple costs less than white oak or walnut

2. Complexity — straight shelving vs. cabinets with doors, drawers, and trim detail

3. Finish — clear coat is less labor than a multi-step painted finish

What Wood Species Do You Use?

We build with domestic hardwood species that can be found growing around us here in northeast Ohio. Each has different look, cost, and durability tradeoffs:

Base Hardwood species (Cherry, Maple, Red Oak, Ash, Hickory, Sycamore, Poplar, and others) with clear lacquer or polyurethane, traditional, durable cabinetry $

Maple, expertly spray finished to any color with proven paint systems $$

Solid White Oak or Walnut cabinetry - statement pieces $$$

Caring for Your Custom Cabinetry

​

• Dust with a soft, dry cloth; avoid harsh chemical cleaners on wood finishes

• Ask us about recommended cleaning products and methods

• Use coasters/pads under items that may scratch or stain

• Keep humidity relatively stable in the room to prevent wood movement

• Wood is a natural product that expands and contracts with seasonal humidity, We account for this in our construction and design process but sometimes you need some assistance. we offer guidance throughout the life of your project.
